Exporting and freezing a version

Word, PDF, and OSCAL downloads — and the difference between a draft and a frozen version.

Documents download the moment an assessment is scored — stamped "draft" on every page until every requirement carries a description, a plan, or a reason. That gate is deliberate: an SSP with ninety-nine sections reading "not yet described" is the artifact that loses an assessor's confidence, so the product will hand you a draft and refuse to freeze a version until the gaps are closed.

How to use it

  • Word and PDF are for a person to read. OSCAL is the machine-readable format some sponsors and platforms now ask for directly.
  • Once every requirement is described, Documents offers a "freeze" action — the version stops changing even if you keep answering questions, so a copy you hand to an assessor stays exactly what they read.
  • Freezing does not stop you from working. Keep answering, keep improving narrative — the next freeze is a new, later version, and the old one stays exactly as it was.
